Representation Analysis

In the Tide commercial, it's easy for the audience to recognize the underlying message, that girls should wear colors like pink or bright colors in general. The mother is trying to convey to the viewer that colors like green and black are feminine. Obviously, we know today that it's, for the most part, socially acceptable for a girl to wear any color. Along with the simple message of the color of someone's clothing, at the end to the commercial, the mother seems to be tentatively encouraging her daughter to keep on building car garages and we know that society wants us to think that girls should be playing with dolls and that boys should be the ones how should be building things like car garages.

In the Axe commercial the main message was that if you spray the deodorant then one will be bombarded with thousands of beautiful women. Along with that, the women in the video are sexualized for example when they are running up the hill the show and emphasis on the breasts of the women. I don't believe that all women will drop everything and chase after a man that happens to smell good.
