Patience

So it looks like it's for sure that we won't be able to meet with anyone due to the social distancing guidelines being extended for another month. I was hoping that this was an April fools joke but sadly it's not. I'm glad that I thought of the Facetime idea because I was hoping that at some point I would be able to film with people but that is not the case. I remember at some point in the year we were told to always have some type of backup plan in case of an unforeseen event like this were to occur. I feel that my idea of utilizing facetime is good but then I think of my classmates and I start to feel bad about how some of them had such great ideas but because of this virus they're not able to execute their openings the way that they initially intended to. But at the end of the day, I strongly feel that all of us will overcome this hurdle and make good openings.

Facetime?

So I understand that I have had so many changes and ideas that I have done to this project. Some have been made due to critiques from my peers in class while others have been made by myself. For the most its not like I planned on getting rid of the diner idea in which the two people break up, I really wanted to do it but with all of the unpredictable things that have happened in the past month, it has forced everyone to change their project. The fact that we must be practicing social distancing is reason enough why we all have to change our project if we were planning on going out and shooting. So, due to the circumstances, I have decided on potentially using a resource like Facetime to do my project, that way I am able to have people in my project and can convey a similar story to the audience.

Sunday Funday

Yeah not really. Today has been pretty uneventful just like the past 2 weeks. I woke up at 11 am then got bored so I slept until 4 PM, ate, watched an episode of Shameless and now I'm here writing my blog. I've been working out in my garage but it's such a hassle with the car being parked there so I am going to start running this week so we'll see how that goes since I'm not a good runner. But my thinking is that I'll get some type of inspiration for my project while I'm running and maybe I'll meet up with some friends (while maintaining social distancing) and hopefully I am able to tell them about my ideas and get some type of feedback from them.

Boredom

There is nothing to do, I have done everything that one could do in their house. I feel like I have hit a wall in the development of the opening and it sucks. I can't go to school and ask my classmates on their opinion of my ideas and I can't tell them my opinions on their ideas and it really sucks. I want for my ideas to be critiqued and to get feedback so that I can maximize my ideas to the fullest so that I am able to convey my ideas to the audience. In the next few days, I am going to try to contact some of my friends and ask them how they feel about my project and the new ideas. This, I feel, is one of the only ways in which I could get my classmates to critique my project.Boredom (Feat. Rex Orange County & Steve Lacy) // Tyler, The ...

"Spring Break"

Spring Break started today and it feels weird since we have not been at school for more than a week at this point. So considering that we have been home for such a long time it's given me a lot of free time and so I have been watching tv shows and playing video games with friends. Along with watching shows I've watched movies and tried to get inspiration from then in order to look for things that I could add to my project. A movie that I watched was "Christopher Robin" and a lot of the opening had no people and was mainly pages of books that told a story and considering that it is going to be complicated to get people in my opening due to the coronavirus and all of us being in quarantine for that past week or so. So as of now and watching "Christopher Robin" an idea that I would consider is having no or as little people as possible in the opening.

Distribution

For distribution, since I am an amateur filmmaker I will most definitely be looking toward distributing this film through film festivals and by small streaming services since it will be unlikely that Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video will stream our film on their websites. A place in which I am interested in putting the film on is Youtube due to the fact that it is free to upload and it is easy to post on Youtube. Another place in which I found that would be a place in which I could potentially upload my film is Vimeo or Dailymotion. These two platforms allow for the upload of content from all types of creators and the fact that they are free or inexpensive is great for someone like me who is making their first movie and it gives me comfort knowing that I have a place to upload. Image result for youtube

Online Class

On Thursday we had our first online class/presentation/update, where we were all told what was going with regards to the project and school. We were told that we would get an extension on the project due to the fact that none of us are able to film in the real world because of our parents and government officials wanting us to practice social-distancing. Our teacher also mentioned the idea of completely changing our genre or the idea of having our film opening without people in it, she said that the techniques that we have learned throughout the year make us able to create a watchable and engaging film opening without people in it. On the idea of changing the genre completely, that will be hard because we are so deep into our ideas and we've had a group meeting with our peers so to change the genre it would be hard to do. But that is not to say that there would not be benefits, one could change their genre to suspense and make their opening without the need to have people present in their opening. But as for now, it seems that it will not be until April 15, at the earliest, when we get back to school and I am holding out hope that we come back just because it's my senior year and I want to finish my senior year at school and not in self-quarantine.
